Dear Family and Friends,
I have sent you to this letter because I love you, you are important to me and I care about what happens to you. I realize this is a little unorthodox, but then we are living in unorthodox times.
Recent events all over the world have begun to impact me in a way they never have before. The fires, floods, earthquakes, mudslides, hurricanes, tornadoes and other disasters all point to the soon return of Jesus. Yes, these events have occurred for hundreds of years, but even scientists must admit the frequency has become alarming (see https://ourworldindata.org/natural-disasters). Yes, Jesus is coming soon.
The Bible addresses more issues than these: a general decline in morality, the genetic manipulation and intermingling of species and humans, the rise of hatred among nations, the cold indifference of mass murderers and terrorists, the desire to bring all nations together, different religions finding common ground, the preference for pleasure over God – many of these issues are openly brought out or alluded to in the Scriptures. Never before has there been a time such as this!
Just when we think it can’t get any worse, it does. Soon, people’s hearts will fail them for fear of the things that are coming upon the earth. I am appealing to you to seek the Lord while He may be found. Jesus is our only hope. This world won’t last much longer. It can’t – the world is groaning under the weight of sin. If we desire salvation, we must act now. There is no time left to dabble with the world. If we choose the world, we reject Jesus. We must choose Jesus and reject the world.
If you are not living up to what you know is right; if you are being convicted by the Holy Spirit as you read this letter, please pray. Ask the Lord to forgive your sins, change your heart and take control of your life. Knowing the truth is not enough, we must live it. We must get ready, be ready and stay ready. The hour is late!
How do we live the truth? First, we must develop a relationship with Christ. How? By daily prayer and Bible study. It is so simple we don’t do it. We are just too busy! Unfortunately, this is Satan’s plan: Keep people busy until it’s too late. You see when Jesus returns, only those who know Him will be saved; knowing about Him, and even knowing the truth won’t save us. We must have our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We get to know Christ the same way we get to know any other Friend, by spending time with Him. As we pray and study, we must ask Him to send His Spirit to dwell within us. Through His Word and His Spirit, Christ will reveal His will to us. This is how we develop a relationship with Him.
In our minds, we may think our sins are too great or that we’ve wasted our lives and aren’t worthy to come to Christ. Trust me, none of us is worthy. We are all sinners. But Christ makes us worthy. He already paid the price for our sins through His death on the cross, and He has the power to change us. Just as a butterfly goes through metamorphosis, Jesus can change us into His image through the inner working of the Holy Spirit.
Please realize that it is not this life that matters. A mere 70-90 years is a literal moment of time compared to eternity. The life that matters is the eternal life. No matter how we’ve messed up here, we can come to Christ and gain eternal life.
Think of it, no more temptation, no more sin, no more pain, no more death or suffering; people living together in perfect happiness. This is heaven and this is eternity.
Please consider this letter a personal invitation to the great celebration feast in heaven. All who overcome (the world, self and sin) through Christ will be there. I want you to be there, because it won’t be the same without you. Let’s have a reunion in heaven that will literally last forever!
